Venus attack psychics called “Growth,” “Mad Growth,” and “Wild Growth” show up in the Golden Sun series. The first stage of the series, Growth, is also a utility Psynergy featured in each game.
In the classic RPG Golden Sun, Growth is an essential recovery Psynergy. It restores a large amount of HP to one party member. Here is a guide on how to obtain Growth in Golden Sun.
What is the Growth Psynergy?
Growth is a recovery Psynergy found in Golden Sun and Golden Sun The Lost Age It restores a set amount of HP to a single Adept in battle
Growth is modeled after the Sustain Well, a sacred healing fountain found throughout Weyard When cast, glowing green leaves swirl around an Adept and restore their health
The amount of HP restored by Growth scales based on the caster’s level On average, it heals anywhere from 100 to 250 HP It costs 5 Psynergy Points to use.
Growth is extremely useful both in and out of battle for healing and keeping Adepts alive. It’s an essential Psynergy every player should obtain.
How Do You Get Growth in Golden Sun?
Growth is acquired by having the required Djinn placed on certain Adepts. Here’s an overview of how to get it:
-
Garet – Growth is available if Garet has 3 or more Venus Djinn set to him. This includes Ground, Petra, Flower, and others.
-
Mia – Mia learns Growth by having 3 or more Mercury Djinn, like Fizz, Sleet, Mist, set to her.
-
Ivan – Ivan will get Growth if he has 3 or more Jupiter Djinn – like Gust, Whorl, and Luff – on him.
-
Isaac – Isaac needs 3 Mars Djinn, such as Forge, Fever, and Corona, to learn Growth.
-
Felix – In The Lost Age, Felix unlocks Growth with 3 Venus Djinn.
-
Jenna – Jenna requires 3 Mars Djinn set to acquire Growth.
-
Sheba – Sheba will learn Growth by having 3 or more Jupiter Djinn.
-
Piers – With 3 Mercury Djinn, Piers can get Growth.
Tips for Getting Growth Early
Here are some tips to get Growth as soon as possible:
-
Check each character’s Djinn screen often as you progress. Assign stray Djinn you pick up to unlock abilities.
-
Focus on letting Garet, Mia, Ivan, or Isaac reach 3 Djinn first since they join earliest.
-
Prioritize gaining Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter Djinn out of dungeons. Don’t activate extra Mars Djinn on Isaac early on.
-
Disable Djinn on characters you aren’t focusing on so active Djinn can be collected sooner.
-
Use Djinn you obtain along the way. Don’t save up Djinn on standby to assign all at once.
-
Activate Growth on the Adept who can use it most effectively for your party setup.
Make Use of Growth in Battle
Once equipped, Growth can turn the tide in tough battles. Use it strategically:
-
Cast early in battle to top off health before powerful enemy attacks.
-
Target injured Adepts to bring them back from the brink of defeat.
-
Heal party members who can’t heal themselves like Ivan and Felix.
-
Save PP for big heals instead of depleting PP on minor healing.
-
Use when multiple party members need healing and group Cure spells aren’t sufficient.
-
Combine with group healing to fully restore party health.
Growth is one of the best recovery Psynergy in Golden Sun. Follow these tips to obtain it quickly and utilize it effectively to strengthen your party!
Availability[]
The Growth series is available to many classes, such that Adepts of any element may use the series. The series is available to the Venus-based mono-elemental class, the Miko class series, unique to Himi. The series is also available to the classes with two elements: the Brute class series, both Seer Class series (Mercury and Jupiter), and the Scrapper class series. At Level 1, the Brute and Scrapper classes learn how to grow. At Level 2, the Miko class does the same, and at Level 3, the Seer classes do too. Mad Growth is learned at Level 12 by all classes. Everyone else learns Wild Growth at Level 29, but the Brute class learns it at Level 28.
In a special case, the Venus Adept Matthew will know Growth starting at Level 1, regardless of class. However, he will not learn the other two stages unless in the Brute class.
Growth as a Utility Psynergy[]
Growth is a Utility Psynergy found in each game in the Golden Sun series. In the first two games, Growth is used uncommonly, to grow small plants into climbable ladders. People usually don’t need to use it, and because they have to switch classes to get to it, they might miss being able to use Growth. In The Lost Age, Growth can be used in its usual way, but it can also be used on plants to help the player find their way through the maze in Gaia Rock that leads to the Serpent. Growth works a lot like in battle if it’s not used on a plant. But since it doesn’t have a target, it’s pretty much useless.
In Dark Dawn, there are a lot more puzzles that involve Growth, and the player doesn’t have to switch classes to use it. Matthew will know Growth no matter what class he is in. Growth can now be used with in a circular range, similarly to Move. In Belinsk Ruins, Growth is used in several puzzles as a representative for the element of Venus.
