Seed of the Dead Sweet Home is a zombie-themed survival action game that has been gaining popularity recently. As a new player it can be overwhelming trying to figure everything out. That’s why I’ve put together this comprehensive guide covering how to get started detailed maps, item locations, tips and strategies to help you survive.
Getting Started
When you first start Seed of the Dead, you’ll wake up in a safe house with a small tutorial teaching you the basic controls and mechanics. Movement is done with WASD, aim and shoot with the mouse. You can also dash, kick and melee attack.
After the tutorial, you’re free to start exploring the first map which is your neighborhood. Scavenge houses for weapons, ammo and items. Keep an eye out for zombies, they’ll come out from cars or alleyways. Aim for the head to kill them quicker.
Check the mini map often to see objectives and points of interest Main missions are marked with a red icon, while optional objectives for more loot are blue
Manage your inventory space carefully. You can store extra weapons and items in your base once you find it. Stock up on ammo when you can, it goes quickly!
Detailed Maps
There are 13 acts in Seed of the Dead, each with a unique map to explore:
Act 1 – Neighborhood
Act 2 – Supermarket
Act 3 – Train Station
Act 4 – School
Act 5 – Docks
Act 6 – Bank
Act 7 – Mansion
Act 8 – Research Lab
Act 9 – Countryside
Act 10 – Amusement Park
Act 11 – Military Base
Act 12 – Cinema District
Act 13 – Nest
When entering each new map, take time to explore thoroughly before proceeding to the main objectives. Check buildings, back alleys and off the beaten path areas to find hidden loot. Having a companion character like Hikari or Ichika helps search wider areas faster. Their skills also come in handy against tough zombies like giants and armored variants.
Important Items
Here are some of the most useful items to grab when you find them:
-
Weapons – Pistols, shotguns, rifles. Keep a ranged weapon equipped at all times. Melee is risky.
-
Med Kits – Heal lost HP, vital for tough boss fights.
-
Grenades – Powerful AOE damage against clusters of zombies.
-
Energy Drinks – Temporarily boost speed and strength. Useful before big fights.
-
Key Cards – Grant access to new areas in maps like the bank and research lab.
-
Weapon Parts – Attach to guns to improve attributes like damage, fire rate and clip size.
-
Safe Codes – Unlock special rewards inside safes. Look for notes or listen to phone messages that can provide the codes.
-
Costumes – Cosmetic outfits for characters that also give bonus stats.
-
Gifts – Give these to companions to raise their affinity and unlock rewards.
Survival Tips
Follow these tips to improve your chances of surviving through each act:
-
Always go for headshots. Conserve ammo by killing zombies quickly with a single well-placed shot.
-
Keep moving and don’t let yourself get surrounded. Kite zombies while backpedaling and firing.
-
Use the environment! Lead zombies into explosive barrels or gas leaks then shoot them.
-
Stock up on consumables right before major boss fights. Med kits, grenades and energy drinks.
-
Pair up companions that complement each other. Hikari & Ichika for dps. Aya & Kirara for healing/support.
-
Take advantage of each girl’s abilities. Hikari’s dash attack or Ichika’s penetrating bullets for example.
-
Melee only when desperate or out of ammo. Avoid at all costs against mutant zombies.
-
Listen for audio cues like zombie snarls or footsteps. Check your surroundings frequently to avoid surprise attacks.
-
Take breaks at the base to bank cash, items and heal up. Skipping this can make runs much harder.
Permanent Upgrades
As you progress through the acts, you’ll unlock new facilities and upgrades for your base:
-
Shop – Sell duplicate weapons and items. Buy ammo, weapons, consumables. New inventory unlocks at higher reputation levels.
-
Training – Permanently improve the girls’ stats like health, damage, speed.
-
Research – Development projects that unlock powerful new weapons and gear.
-
Warehouse – More storage for weapons, items and costumes. Upgrade to hold more.
-
Medical – Create permanent healing items that can be used anytime. Useful for tough bosses.
-
Quartermaster – Purchase temporary battle boosts like extra ammo capacity or armor.
Prioritize upgrading the facilities you use most first. I recommend the Shop for better gear, Training for permanent stat increases, and Medical for on-demand healing.
Boss Strategies
The acts conclude with challenging boss fights that test your skill and preparation. Use these tips to take down the bosses:
Supermarket Boss – The giant butcher zombie hits hard in melee and throws saw blades. Keep your distance while circling the arena and dodging projectiles. Call in a companion to draw his attacks while you pepper him with headshots. Grenades help wittle his health down faster when he’s stunned.
School Boss – The mutated undead elephant charges quickly and uses its trunk to slam the ground, stunning you. Stay mobile and never stop running to avoid getting trampled or slammed. Concentrate fire on its legs to cripple movement while kiting. Target the head once it’s slowed down.
Bank Boss – The security system activates defense turrets and robotic sentries. Move methodically from cover to cover while destroying the turrets first. Use companions to distract the robots while you flank or attack from behind. Explosives are very effective here.
Research Lab Boss – The giant Venus Flytrap has biting and claw attacks up close, and shoots seeds from a distance. Keep your range, while dodging seed projectiles and vines emerging from the ground. Companions with flamethrowers or incendiary ammo work well to burn it down quickly.
