Why Unlock the Stake Knife?
The Stake Knife is one of the most powerful melee weapons in Dead of the Night Zombies:

Unlocking it early is key to survival during those first critical rounds when ammo and points are scarce. The Stake Knife will carry you through the early rounds with ease.
Step 1: Pack-a-Punch Activation
To start the unlock process for the Stake Knife, you first need to gain access to the Pack-a-Punch machine. Here’s how:

Locate the 3 ghost trees around the map marked by blue flames

Interact with each tree to begin a crystal challenge

Successfully complete all 3 challenges

Return to the middle basement area to find the Pack-a-Punch machine now available
Completing these challenges may take a few attempts until you get the hang of it. But once you finish all 3, you can now move on to unlocking the Stake Knife.
Step 2: Find the Tree Symbols
After opening Pack-a-Punch, head to the Forest and look for a large tree with a lantern hanging from it. Around this tree you’ll find 4 other trees, each with a unique symbol carved into it.
Make note of the symbol order in relation to the lantern tree using this numbering:

The symbols and order will be different for each player and game. Now you’re ready for the next step.
Step 3: Shoot the Symbol Stones
Go to the Gardens area and locate 4 round symbol stones:

Stone 1: Gazebo windowsill

Stone 2: Left of Widow’s Wine machine

Stone 3: Right wall near lunar lander

Stone 4: Back corner of fountain
Shoot the stones in the order of your tree symbols using a Silver Bullet weapon. After shooting them correctly, your character will say a quote to confirm.
Step 4: Obtain the Tree Branch
Head to the Forest Terrace and buy the Bowie Knife from the wall. Return to the Forest and locate the reddish lantern tree to the left of the main lantern tree.
Use your Bowie Knife to cut the symbols on this tree in the correct order. If done properly, a branch will fall – interact to pick it up.
Step 5: Charge the Branch with Souls
Take the branch to the Perk Mausoleum and place it on the altar. Kill zombies near the altar until the branch starts glowing, indicating it has collected enough souls. Pick it up when ready.
Step 6: Craft the Stake Knife
Finally, take the soul-charged branch to the crafting bench on the Cemetery Path and interact to build the Stake Knife.
And that’s it! You now have this ultra-powerful melee weapon to destroy the vampires and werewolves wandering the grounds of Rhodes’ mansion. Get out there and start impaling!
The Stake Knife is an awesome addition for early round melee attacks and mobility. Unlock it as soon as possible on Dead of the Night to make the opening rounds easier. With this step-by-step guide, you’ll be armed and ready to take on any blood-sucking monsters that cross your path.

1. Go to the Forest where the Pack-a-Punch machine is located and find a tree with a lantern. On the tree is an elemental symbol, and behind it can be seen three more trees with the same symbol. Take note of the order of the symbols from left to right.
2. Go to the Greenhouse and find 4 stones with the elemental symbols on it. You must shoot each one in the correct order. If you fail at this step, you won’t be able to get the Stake Knife for the rest of the game. If done correctly, your character will remark on it and you should hear a sparkle sound.
3. Return to the Forest and go to the tree behind the previous tree. With a Bowie Knife, cut the tree’s symbols in the order you have written them. It should have four elemental symbols on it.
4. When all the symbols are crossed out, hit two or three of them with a shield bash to make a branch fall. Pick up the branch.
5. Take the branch to Mausoleum and place it on the alter.
6. Kill 15 Nosferatus around the branch and their souls will fill it up.
7. When done, it should have an orange smoke emanating from it. Pick it up and craft it at the crafting table near the Mausoleum.
