I bought 4 of these to fill in trellises along my patio (zone 7). The first year I had a few blooms in Spring and that was it. Second year it grew a lot and produced a ton of blooms in May. I’m not sure if cool, rainy nights contributed to black spot. It dropped all its leaves and then produced a few blooms in July. This year, it has done the same thing. Because of the black spot, all I see this summer is empty canes. I wish I had learned more about it. S.
I bought my Zepherine rose in 2023. It was just a stick but I followed planting instructions and dug what I call a $100 hole. As soon as she got there, she took off like a race horse and even gave me a few blooms. This year shes 4 feet up. my arbor and putting out several strong new canes. The smell in the early evening, when the shade finally hois that area, is truly heavenly. Wish I had more room for another. This was a great purchase! S.
Three of these bushes are now more than 10 years old, but I’m not sure if they are Heirloom. I’m in zone 7a in central Virginia, and I do fight black spot with them, though not as badly as in some roses. It seems like every year I have to cut them back a lot because of black spot and die back. This keeps them from getting as tall as I’d like. Fair enough, the amount of shade has grown over the years. I think they would do better with more sun than they get now (about 5 hours a day). The smell is amazing, the rose is beautiful in color, and gosh, thornless – thats delightful. This picture is from the beginning, when there was no shade. It shows two bushes, one on each side of the arbor. I would not say a continual bloomer, however, but more of a repeat bloomer. W.
